We are so excited to be taking students on a mission trip to Chicago this summer! We will be working with three local church plants in the Chicago area as they attempt to affect their local communities for Christ. This will be the second time the we have gone up to Chicago for mission work. We will be partnering with the Illinois Baptist Association (IBSA) and FBC Metropolis, Illinois. During the days we will be working in various capacities like door knocking to invite people to the church, helping with VBS or backyard bible classes, serving local food banks, and generally trying to help these church plants get involved in their local community. We will have worship and bible study for ourselves in the evenings at Rockwell Ministry Center.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS & STUDENTS:

• Times:

We will depart for Chicago following the 11 AM service on July 24th. We will drive to Metropolis, Illinois and stay the night at FBC Metropolis (307 Massac Creek Road, Metropolis, IL 62960). We will arrive in Chicago around lunchtime on Monday, July 25th. We will depart from Chicago following church on July 31st (11:30 AM-12 PM) and will travel back to Metropolis and again spend the night at FBC Metropolis. We will leave Metropolis early the next morning on August 1st and hopefully arrive at FBC Chickamauga in the early afternoon.

• Deadline:

Cost for the trip is $250. The deadline to sign-up and payment  is Sunday, July 17th. If you know your student is going and would like to make incremental payments please contact Chris Harper. If a student drops out of the trip after the deadline date, the will be responsible for the entire cost of the trip. Scholarships are also available.

• Cell Phones:

Given the nature of the work we will be doing and the fact that we will be working with different churches, students will have access to their cell phones. However, we are going to ask and enforce that students limit their phone use to necessary communication with those on the trip and their families back home.

MAKE SURE TO PACK AN EXTRA OVERNIGHT BAG FOR OUR OVERNIGHT STAYS IN METROPOLIS SO WE DON’T HAVE TO UNPACK THE ENTIRE BUS.
